This article covers some frequently asked questions regarding Avocado Import event that took place in May 2023. See here for more info on Importing
Who is eligible for the Import Gas Credits?
Users who had active DeFi positions on May 6 are eligible for gas credit imports. You can earn credits for importing DeFi positions from protocols like AAVE, Compound, and MakerDAO across multiple networks. Import works with EOA as well as DeFi Smart Accounts.
Why should I import to Avocado if I already use a DSA?
Avocado is a superior wallet to the DeFi Smart Account, and it can be used on more applications. Once imported, you can continue to use the DSA UI by connecting your Avocado wallet, and you'll pay 0% when using flash loan-powered strategies. We are building updates to the Instadapp DSA UI to make it even more Avocado friendly!
What is the difference between flat credits and net value credits?
When you import positions, you'll receive credits based on the net value of the import, which is calculated using a scaling tier. Your credits will include both a flat amount and an amount based on the net value of the imported positions. You can review the credit calculation below:
Net Value Imported | Flat Credits | Net Value based Credits |
Less than $1000 | $10 | N/A |
Less than $10,000 | $10 | [+] 1% of Net Value * (Net Value - $1000) |
Less than $100,000 | $100 | [+] 0.5% of Net Value * (Net Value - $10,000) |
Less than $1m | $500 | [+] 0.1% of Net Value * (Net Value - $100,000) |
More than $1m | $1,500 | N/A |
🎲 Import Gas Credit Examples
User imports a Mainnet AAVE v2 position with $8000 Net Value
$10 (Flat credit) + $70 (Net Value credit) =
$80 in gas credits received!
For L2 networks such as Polygon, Arbitrum and Optimism divide the credits above by 10.
User imports an Optimism AAVE v2 position with $8000 Net Value
$10 (Flat credit) + $70 (Net Value credit) = $80 divided by 10 =
$8 in gas credits received!
How many times can I import?
For Gas Credits you only receive credits the first time you import from a protocol. You can import from different protocols to earn more credit, and the import feature will remain on onboarding site for future use.
For example importing from AAVE v2 Mainnet, AAVE v2 Polygon and AAVE v3 Polygon all yield their own gas credit per import.
Can I earn credits if I import from AAVE but on different networks?
Yes, AAVE v3 Optimism counts as a separate protocol from AAVE v3 Arbitrum and each will earn gas credits the first time you import.
Can I earn credits if I import multiple MakerDAO vaults?
MakerDAO works a bit differently than the market based protocols like AAVE and Compound. For MakerDAO you will receive credits for every vault you import, the first time you import it. MakerDAO import is limited to Mainnet DSA accounts.
What if my import earns more credit than the import transaction cost?
When you import a gas credit eligible position, the import transaction cost will be deducted from the earned credits. Usually, you will have extra credits left after the import cost is covered. The remaining gas credits will be added to your Avocado gas balance following the import.
How can I withdraw the USDC gas?
At this time, you cannot withdraw the Gas balance, and we recommend only topping up what you plan to use. In a future update, we plan to make the deposited Gas balance withdrawable.
I received Gas Credits in a different drop (Lens, Newsletter) can I use the same account to get even MORE credits?
Yes, you can continue to get Gas credits from this and future gas drops using the same account if you like.
I don’t see my EOA MakerDAO vaults can I import them?
Unfortunately, you cannot import Vaults from your EOA. Import only works for MakerDAO vaults that you have on any Mainnet DSA accounts.
